Pets are small creatures that can accompany you on your adventures. They will level up with you by taking 1/5th of the combat exp you gain and deal more damage as they level up. Pets do not lose exp when you die. Each pet has its own individual level, keep this in mind when choosing which pet to bring with you on your adventures.

Unlocking pets can be quite a task, as some of the pets require numerous monster kills or large sums of money before you can obtain them.
