PR Department Apology Letter
We were really excited to launch the Summer Event a few days ago. So much so, that we ended up overlooking some aspects and failed to properly test the event thoroughly. Cue hype, we're gamers too. Unfortunately, one of the bugs made Gold Clams enter the game much faster than intended, and made the rewards lose value. Even though I quickly put a fix in place while sneaking in an update, some damage was already done (not just to beach chairs :KEKW~1: ) and we had to figure out how to proceed.
Now, one thing we planned beforehand really saved the day here: initially, we wanted to roll out new rewards every week. Of course, a week hadn't passed yet (at that time, barely 12 hours had) but sometimes you gotta improvise, ya know? So... here's the "Week 1's New Release" patch notes that I was supposed to publish yesterday. I spent the day eating chicken nuggets instead. I regret nothing.
New Clam Type: Pearl Clam
This one's the new Gold Clam. Remember flexing gold clams? Well, flex pearl clams now. Pearl clams are pink-colored rare clams you can get from opening Mossy Clams, and they're quite rare. But oh boy are they filled with new loot!
Let me 'break' them down for you (no you don't get my loot, shoo!)
Giant Pearl (Head Piece)
This helm-slot item resembles a giant <backspace backspace backspace> pearl that you put your head into, to make yourself look like the sought-after giant pearl in humanoid form! This is a medium-rare loot roll on the Pearl Clam drop table, but not as rare as the next one...
The Pearl Necklace
"Honey, I think a pearl necklace would look so good on you!"
Well, if you've been eyeing a fine Arosette, why not seal the deal and show her your loyalty with an incredibly rare and valuable Pearl Necklace? Wedding rings are soooo Bing era, if you ChatGPT'ed your way through last semester, you're going to propose with a Pearl Necklace. Roughly 4x the rarity of the Giant Pearl from a Pearl Clam, this one's rare enough to also give you clout across all worlds. People will know you're marriage material when that RNG rolls in your favour.
It's... it's like The Sleekest, but actually limited edition! hehe.. mb mb
Oooh baby I like your [bronze/silver/gold/pearl] tan!
The Pearl Necklace comes with a transformation effect that activates when worn. You won't be able to move while transformed, but in exchange, you get to look like one of four possible metallic hues of Clam. Pearl counts as metallic, yes.
(Those who paid attention will realize this is how you can kidnap your future partner. Smart!)
To unlock these, here's the recipe:
- Bronze is unlocked automatically when you get the Pearl Necklace. That means either when you obtain it, or when you buy it from others. This is the only transformation you will always have.
- Silver, Bronze, and Pearl unlock in-order, randomly at a 10% chance per opened Pearl Clam. Averaging it out, you'll get those extra transforms after ±30 Pearl Clams you opened.
The transformations are soulbound - this means they are tied to your account, not to a particular Pearl Necklace item. As such, the transformations CANNOT BE TRADED across accounts and have to be unlocked via Pearl Clams. You can, however, buy Pearl Clams and open them to unlock the styles on your purchased Pearl Necklace.
What The Future Holds
Some of you are already aware, but the Summer Event was released to give you something to have fun with while we're shifted into 12th gear, working on easily the largest and most content-rich update of all time. It's a lot of work but we believe it'll be worth the wait.
