− | + | Upon starting ''Curse of Aros'', players will be met with the start screen. On this start screen, the player can access various links to social media, Discord, and Patreon on the left-hand side.
− | |||
+ | Players may also choose which world they would like to play in. Each world offers the same experience and gameplay. The player's character is tied to their Google Play account, so they may use whichever world they prefer.
+ | Currently, there are 9 worlds available. It is recommended to choose a world that is geographically closer to your location for a better connection.
+ | Different worlds also have minor player interaction differences. For example, worlds 1 and 2 are highly populated and often serve as trading hubs. Worlds 4 and 5, being less populated, may be beneficial for gathering resources and boss fights.
− | + | After selecting the world and pressing play, the player will need to select their Google Play account to log in. After a few moments, the player will enter the world of ''Curse of Aros''.

− | + | == Potions == | |
− | |||
− | + | Potions in '''Curse of Aros''' are automatically placed in the quick access bar if the player has potions in their inventory. There are currently three sizes of potions varying in cost and effectiveness:
− | |||
+ | * '''Potion''' – Heals 30 Health Points
+ | * '''Health Flask''' – Heals 150 Health Points
+ | * '''Flask of Life''' – Heals 450 Health Points
+ | If the player has the Vitality Potion effect active (providing a 25% boost to potions), the potions will be more effective:
− | + | * '''Potion''' – Heals 37 Health Points
+ | * '''Health Flask''' – Heals 187 Health Points
+ | * '''Flask of Life''' – Heals 562 Health Points
− | + | Potions can be obtained from monsters as loot, purchased from various merchants, or traded between players.
− | |||
− | + | === Purchasing and Trading ===
− | + | Potions, health flasks, and flasks of life can all be sold, bought, or traded among players. It is often cheaper to purchase potions from other players than from merchants.
− | + | Certain monsters are better for gathering potions. Players should learn which monsters drop the best potions early on.
− | + | == Equipments and Stats ==
− | + | Weapons, armor, and jewelry are integral to '''Curse of Aros'''. The game features various sets of armor, unique monster drops, and rare equipment. Each piece of equipment contributes to the overall effectiveness of the player's combat capabilities.
− | + | === Basic Equipment ===
+ | At the start, the player has basic equipment, such as a weak wooden sword. To equip, the player must access the inventory and press the "wear" button on the selected item.
+ | === Equipment Requirements ===
+ | Each equipment class has its own level requirements. The list below shows the minimum level required for basic equipment classes:
− | + | * '''Bronze''' – Level 1
− | + | * '''Iron''' – Level 10
− | + | * '''Steel''' – Level 20

− | + | Boss tasks, accessible after level 70 in Varaxis, offer greater challenges, where players must defeat certain bosses a set number of times to earn significantly larger rewards.
+ | == Loot == | ||
+ | Loot is dropped by all creatures and monsters within '''Curse of Aros'''. Every kill rewards the player with gold, which is automatically added to the player's inventory.
+ | The player can collect loot by pressing the interact button when near it. Loot is available for 30 seconds before other players can pick it up and will disappear entirely after 1 minute. Players may want to purchase Scrolls of Rebirth to protect their loot after death.

Start Menu & Servers
Upon starting Curse of Aros, players will be met with the start screen. On this start screen, the player can access various links to social media, Discord, and Patreon on the left-hand side.
Players may also choose which world they would like to play in. Each world offers the same experience and gameplay. The player's character is tied to their Google Play account, so they may use whichever world they prefer.
Currently, there are 9 worlds available. It is recommended to choose a world that is geographically closer to your location for a better connection.
Different worlds also have minor player interaction differences. For example, worlds 1 and 2 are highly populated and often serve as trading hubs. Worlds 4 and 5, being less populated, may be beneficial for gathering resources and boss fights.
After selecting the world and pressing play, the player will need to select their Google Play account to log in. After a few moments, the player will enter the world of Curse of Aros.

Gold can be deposited and withdrawn by the player by using the arrow icons located at the bottom. The gold deposited into a bank account is safe from player versus player encounters. Rewards from tasks can be seen on the bottom right of the Task Board interface and often include experience, gold, and items.
Players can accept tasks by pressing the "Accept" button located at the bottom right of the interface after selecting a desired task.

In the ore boxing station, the player can select the type of ore that they would like to box as well as the quantity by utilizing the arrows located on each side of the quantity amount.

For further information regarding the smithing skill, please consult the Skills Smithing section.
Mushroom Island

Wintermist
Located to the east of Brightleaf, Wintermist, the cold and unforgiving land of the East, also has a central hub. This central hub currently contains a task board, a bank chest, and a merchant.
Wasteland
Located south of Brightleaf's central hub, the Wasteland provides brave and strong adventurers a chance to slay their enemies and collect rarer resources. In the Wasteland, other players near the player's level may attack and steal hard-earned gold. Explore the Wasteland at your own risk.
For more information on player versus player encounters, please consult the Combat Player versus Player (PVP) section.
Varaxis
Located north of Brightleaf is a dark and mysterious forest that holds mysteries and dangers ready to be faced by only the strongest and most skilled adventurers. Level 65 is required to access Varaxis.
The Varaxis central hub contains a task board, a bank chest, a shadow merchant, a goblin trader, and a boss task board.
The Boss task board is quite similar to the regular task board but instead of giving regular monster tasks, it gives daring adventurers a chance to fight bosses for larger rewards.
Varaxis contains many mysteries… Who will be brave enough to delve into the depths of Varaxis... Only time will tell.
Paths and progression
Curse of Aros has a classless progression system aimed at giving the players the freedom of choice in how they wish to play the game and progress throughout their various trials.
The calm player may wish to simply hone their resource gathering and processing skills while selling their surplus to other players and talking to other members of the community.
The brave adventurous player might wish to strengthen themselves by acquiring the rarest equipment so that they may delve deep into the mysteries of Varaxis.
The merchanting player may engage in the purchase and sales of rare items to create profits for themselves by buying items at lower prices and selling them at a higher cost.
Within Curse of Aros, there is something to do for every type of player, the limit is but the player's imagination.
Combat
Within the world of Curse of Aros, you will encounter many dangerous foes that will test your skills and abilities. There are also many bosses that may reward the lucky and brave adventurers.
Combat mechanics
Learning the combat mechanics in Curse of Aros might seem simple at first glance, but to maximize experience gained and to truly be the strongest warrior, the player must first learn the basic mechanics of combat.
After engaging a monster or creature in combat, the player should expect the monster to immediately retaliate. Depending on the player's current level and the monster's level, the damage done to the player might be large. Therefore, the player should always be prepared to heal by utilizing the quick access bar potions.
The player must continue engaging the monster or creature in combat until the monster or player reaches 0 Health Points.
Once the creature is dead, the player may now pick up the loot that was dropped by the creature by using the interact button while standing close to the loot.
Note: In Curse of Aros, melee attacks are always considered area-of-effect attacks. Meaning that the player will attack any and all creatures within melee attack distance. If the player is within attacking range of three monsters and the player begins attacking, those three monsters will engage the player in combat.
To maximize the experience gained, the player may wish to attack multiple enemies at once and engage all of them in combat simultaneously. The player should keep in mind that having multiple enemies attacking at once greatly increases the risk of the player's death. As such, the player should be ready to use potions at a much faster rate.
To successfully attack multiple monsters at once, the player must attack enemies that are close together and gather them all into a single point. Once the player has gathered the desired amount of monsters, the player may start to engage the group of enemies.
Note: If the player ventures too far while attempting to lure monsters into a group, some monsters may get disinterested and leave the fight.
If the player attempts to fight a monster or creature that is already engaging another player's combat, the player will receive the message "Someone else is fighting that." The player will be unable to attack that specific monster.
Bosses in Curse of Aros all have different mechanics that the player must learn through trial and error and communication with other players. Those adventurers who master the mechanics might be lucky enough to get their hands on some rare equipment that might be worth tons of gold!
Player vs Player (PVP)
In the world of Curse of Aros, there are many dangers that an adventurer must be ready to face: animals, creatures, monsters, demons, and even dangerous players.
Travelling south from the town of Brightleaf, the player will encounter an area destitute of safety. This area is known as the Wasteland. Within the Wasteland reside various creatures and resources. There are also other players looking to fight other players.
Those who venture into the Wasteland will be greeted by this message in the chat box. This is to warn the player that now, upon death, the player will lose 5% of their gold and 5% of their total experience gained for their current level if death is incurred from a monster. Death from another player will not cause the player to lose experience.
Those who seek to plunder other players' gold may simply engage other players that are close in level to them. To engage another player, simply attack them, but the player should always anticipate a quick retaliation.
If the player meets a greater warrior and succumbs to their wounds, they will respawn at the nearest spawn point and be greeted with this message in the chat box.
The player will also see a certain sum of money disappear from their inventory.
For those that wish to participate in safe player versus player fights, players may travel to the east of Brightleaf and enter the safe PVP enclosure.
Potions
Potions in Curse of Aros are automatically placed in the quick access bar if the player has potions in their inventory. There are currently three sizes of potions varying in cost and effectiveness:
- Potion – Heals 30 Health Points
- Health Flask – Heals 150 Health Points
- Flask of Life – Heals 450 Health Points
If the player has the Vitality Potion effect active (providing a 25% boost to potions), the potions will be more effective:
- Potion – Heals 37 Health Points
- Health Flask – Heals 187 Health Points
- Flask of Life – Heals 562 Health Points
Potions can be obtained from monsters as loot, purchased from various merchants, or traded between players.
Purchasing and Trading
Potions, health flasks, and flasks of life can all be sold, bought, or traded among players. It is often cheaper to purchase potions from other players than from merchants.
Certain monsters are better for gathering potions. Players should learn which monsters drop the best potions early on.
Equipments and Stats
Weapons, armor, and jewelry are integral to Curse of Aros. The game features various sets of armor, unique monster drops, and rare equipment. Each piece of equipment contributes to the overall effectiveness of the player's combat capabilities.
Basic Equipment
At the start, the player has basic equipment, such as a weak wooden sword. To equip, the player must access the inventory and press the "wear" button on the selected item.
Equipment Requirements
Each equipment class has its own level requirements. The list below shows the minimum level required for basic equipment classes:
- Bronze – Level 1
- Iron – Level 10
- Steel – Level 20
- Crimsteel – Level 30
- Gold – Level 40
- Ruby – Level 40
- Sapphire – Level 40
- Arosite – Level 40
- Mythan – Level 50
- Cobalt – Level 60
- Varaxite – Level 70
- Deadrock – Level 70
- Glacial – Level 72
- Spectral – Level 75
- Phantom – Level 80
- Golemite – Level 85 (with level 65 smithing)
- Umbral – Level 90 (with level 70 smithing)
- Ancient – Level 95 (with level 85 smithing)
Tasks & Boss Tasks
Tasks are one of the best methods for gathering consumable items such as ability-boosting potions and healing potions, as well as for earning bonus experience and gold rewards.
Boss tasks, accessible after level 70 in Varaxis, offer greater challenges, where players must defeat certain bosses a set number of times to earn significantly larger rewards.
Loot
Loot is dropped by all creatures and monsters within Curse of Aros. Every kill rewards the player with gold, which is automatically added to the player's inventory.
The player can collect loot by pressing the interact button when near it. Loot is available for 30 seconds before other players can pick it up and will disappear entirely after 1 minute. Players may want to purchase Scrolls of Rebirth to protect their loot after death.
Pets
Across the various lands of Curse of Aros the player will encounter certain monsters that can, on very rare occasions, provide the player with their very own pet!
These pets can help the player by actively aiding in combat. Pets never die or lose health points. All pets have the same statistics. The only method of making a pet stronger is by having the pet fight alongside the adventurer. A level 10 bat and a level 10 raptor will have the exact stat.
Pets and all pet items cannot be sold, traded, bought or transferred between players in anyway. The only method currently known for helping another player in getting a pet is for the player to get a pet or pet item drop and let another player pick it up.
Different creatures and monsters have different ways of dropping the "pet" drop. Some will drop eggs, some will drop broken wings, some will drop chunks which need to be assembled by the player. This must all be done solely by the player as there is no method of trading, selling, or buying any and all pets or pet related items.
After the player picks up the rare "pet" drop from the ground the player may then hatch, bring to life, assemble, or in anyway bring the pet to life by pressing the action button after selecting the pet item.
Once the pet has been brought to life the pet will be located in the players inventory. To make the pet follow the player simply select the pet and then press the take out button.
After taking out their pet, the player is free to begin engaging in combat alongside their new best friend. The pet will grow alongside the player and gain experience and levels as the player does.
Death
Death is an important mechanic to understand in Curse of Aros as it will happen frequently to most adventurers.
If a player dies anywhere within the world in a place other than Varaxis and Shadowdune, they will be immediately respawned at the Brightleaf spawn spot as seen above.
Upon death the player will be greeted with a message indicating that they have died and how much experience has been lost. The experience lost due to a death will always be 1% of the currently gained experience for the players current level.
Items are always safe from death and will never be lost.
If the player dies in a PVP zone the player will lose 5% of their experience and 5% of their gold.
Death caused by another player in a PVP zone will not cause the player to lose any experience. Only death from monsters or creatures within the Wasteland will cause the player to lose 5% experience.
Note: Once experience reaches 0% the player will not continue to lose experience.
Player Party
The player may wish to create or join a player party to share gold drops equally amongst all group members of any level. Players within a range of 5 levels, be that higher or lower than each others levels, can opt to join together and share experience earned from monsters as well.
To create a party the player must simply tap on another players character and press the party button to create a party and invite that player.
To join another players party or to accept another players party invitation, the player must type /accept in the chat box and press enter to join.
Once the party has been created the player can see other party members usernames and respective Health Points on the left hand side party interface.
To leave the party the player must simply press the red X button on the party interface.
Skills
There are currently two types of skills in Curse of Aros, resource gathering skills and processing skills. Gathering skills allow the player to gather various resources throughout the lands. Processing skills on the other hand provide the player with the ability to craft their own items using previously gathered or otherwise obtained resources.
These skills are trained and leveled up independently from the players combat level. The player must do the skill activities and utilize the skills to level up their skill levels.
The higher the skill level, the more efficient the player becomes at utilizing these skills as well as the player having access to a greater amount of resources and/or items to craft.
Gathering skills
Mining
Currently, Mining is the only resource gathering skill in Curse of Aros. Mining experience is gained by mining the various ore containing rocks throughout the lands.
Pickaxes are a necessary tool if the player wishes to engage in the mining skill. The first and lowest leveled pickaxe can be purchased at the merchant in Brightleaf.
As the players mining level increases, so does the players ability to use better pickaxes. The better the pickaxe the faster the player is able to mine ores!
Once the player has mined a full inventory the player will receive a yellow message indicating that their inventory is now full.
If a rock that the player is mining has no more ore, a red message will alert the player so that the player may move to a different rock.
Crashed Meteorite
The crashed meteorite is a random event that happens randomly throughout the day. The player may wish to grab their pickaxe and mine the meteorite for easy early mining experience. This is a great source of mining experience for the early mining levels and can be mined at level 1 with a bronze pickaxe purchased from the merchant in Brightleaf.
For more information regarding random events, please consult the random events section near the end of this guide.
Processing skills
Smithing
Currently Smithing is the only processing skill in Curse of Aros. Smithing experience is gained by smelting various ores into metal bars and by smithing metal bars into equipment.
Trade, economy, and merchanting
Economy and trade is a very important aspect in Curse of Aros. A constant but unpredictable flow of resources and equipment and an ever expanding player base means unpredictable prices. It also presents the daring merchanting player an opportunity to make tons of gold, or lose it all.
The player is encouraged to participate in the economy by purchasing and selling items with other players.
If a player wishes to earn money by merchanting the player should pay attention to the games community, current player base, the current prices, the trends and tendencies, and the common mistakes. The more the player is active within the economy the more successful of a merchant they will become.
To trade with a player, the player must simply tap on another players character then press the trade button.
After sending the trade invitation the player must then wait for the other player to also invite the player to trade.
If someone invites the player to trade, the player can accept the trade invitation by also inviting the other player to trade.
Once the trade interface is up both players may offer any items, except pet or pet related items, up for trade.
Both players may also offer gold by pressing the arrow button located beside the gold in the bottom left hand corner of the trade interface. The players may then press the numbers to decide the amount of gold prior to offering it.
Note: to trade items faster and to save both trading parties time, the player may wish to first utilize the gold transfer interface to input the desired number of items that they wish to trade, then the player simply needs to tap beside the gold interface and any item they wish to trade will now trade at the quantity that was previously input on the gold interface. For example if a player wishes to trade 5000 health flask, the player may first open the gold interface and input 5 0 0 0 then close the gold interface and then select their health flasks and the health flasks will already have the 5000 quantity imputed and ready for offering.
The player can then tap specific items within their trading player's offer to confirm that the item or items offered are those which the player seeks. If an offer is changed by either trading party, a red notification indicating that the trade has been modified will be shown at the bottom right hand corner of the trade interface.
Once both players within the trade are satisfied with others offers, they may complete the trade by pressing the Accept button at the bottom center of the interface.
Once the trade is completed both players offers will be swapped meaning each player will receive the other players offer.
Note: The player should always stay cautious while trading with other players and should always double check every transaction and offer before accepting a trade. If the player believes he has been scammed or tricked out of their possessions they may report the other player by using the report functions.
For more information regarding the game rules and reporting please consult the Game Rules section.
For up to date prices please check the Prices and Trades Discord group.
Random events
While the player is embarking on their journey they may witness a few things happening within their chat box. One of these things is random events:
Meteorite
Every hour, on the hour, a meteor crashes east of the spawn area, Players who act quickly with their pickaxe in hand can mine the meteorite to collect Smoulder Boulders, a valuable resource exchanged for mining equipment from the Strange Old Dwarf. This Meteorite only lasts for 5 minutes.
Rewards
Mining the meteorite provides:
- Smoulder Boulders – Can be exchanged for mining equipment.
- Mining Experience – Scales with the player's current Mining level.
Smoulder Boulder Exchange
Players can trade Smoulder Boulders for special mining upgrades, including:
- Extra Inventory Pouches – Expands inventory space for ores.
- Large Mining Crystal – Gain instant Mining Xp.
- Meteorite Pet – A unique pet that has a chance to grant additional Smoulder Boulders.
Starting your journey
First, the player should decide on a username.
After deciding their username the player will be transported to their new home.
The new player can then equip the weak wooden sword that is located in their inventory.
The player can look at the gift box to see that they need to be level 5 to open this box.
The player can then begin hunting bats just east of Brightleaf's central hub and spawn point.
If the player so chooses, he may instead decide to purchase their first pickaxe from the merchant and begin training their skills.
The adventure begins.
