Woody came to life after being turned into a wooden puppet. You can unlock Woody from Crafting. Unlike the combat pets, skilling pets level from their corresponding skill type (this one being an artisan). Skilling pets help you with benefits for skills instead of attacking monsters. The higher level this pet is, the better chance you have to obtain 2 relics from 1 log instead of 1. You also gain more smithing speed per pet level.
